Finally got my stainless "Special
Anchor" finished properly - first time they made the shank too thin
(10mm!) 'cos they misread my measurements on the plywood sample I
made. When I took it back to have that fixed, they said they now had
a supply of lead for the toe ballast, so they'd do that at the same
time. Like a fool I forgot to weigh the damned thing to see how much
ballast it would need, so they filled the thing completely - 11Kg of
lead, and the 35lb anchor came back weighing 60lbs!!! Not a good
thing on a 34ft cat, you'll agree. However, they removed 9Kg of it
without charge - and made sure the remaining 2Kg was all at the toe
- so it now weighs in at a reasonable 38lbs. Trials this
weekend, hopefully, and it should be rather easier to get set than
my ultra-light Fortress aluminium one. (But boy, does that b****r
hold well once it is set?!!!!) |
