The bold rope section is very concave, so much so that
the angle between the alloy and the mounting surface
is excessive. To an extent, the pop rivets deform and
align, but there is a lot of rivet material in the
gap. This problem can be seen in the foto where the
replacement SS bolts are sharply angled in towards
each other and don't bear square onto the washers.
You can see where previous owners have applied
silicon. The rivet ends look awful, and some retain
rusted steel stems. Sometimes the end corrodes off,
sometimes the head of the rivet.
More and more often I see how the original Seawinds
were something just thrown together for daya sailing!
The aft tracks will be replaced with something else,
hopefully all of those holes in the hull will be
filled.
