Tellardin's "Dolphin Striker"...
The photos portray my
improved dolphin striker, one that holds the tensioning wire captive. |

The striker is
two pieces of 1X3 mahogany epoxied together, shaped, then I placed a
3/8" or 9mm stainless round stock through in the fore and aft
direction. Two holes were bored from the correct angle to accept the
tension wire from the sides. It is built so only the upper half of
the pin is exposed to the wire. The idea is that the wire will ride
on the pin, and not wear through the wood striker. The unknown is
how the wire will hold up riding on the stainless pin. If it doesn't
work out, its an easy fix. P.S. I would not propose to use this
design on larger boats. |
