Passing the notorious Portland Spit at the turn of the tide and a flat wind & sea...
Owner Chris Dunn in the red jacket. Scott (in the hat) with Les & Dave during the motor from Yarmouth to Portland (light breeze astern). BigCat carries a couple of kayaks for fun on the anchorage. Adrian and Neal enjoying the March sun. We fitted reversed s/s tillers with Ackerman angle built in, leaving the area forward of the netting beam clear for dinghies & people to come up the ramp unobstructed. The tiller bars meet at a s/s fitting mounted on a Lewmar 'mainsheet' carriage travelling on a track screwed to the back face of the netting beam. The steering cable goes through a drilled & epoxied hole in the beam... The steering pedistal, mostly hidden in this photo, is Whitlock, autopilot is an Autohelm 4000 unit, instruments are ST80.
